Jordan River Temple

Today Mom, Lori, Phyllis, Cleo, and I attended a session at Jordan River Temple.  A stake was having a chapel session as we entered.  A wonderful talk included a story about a man who attended the Draper Temple Open House.

When he was fifteen-years-old he decided to never enter a Mormon church again.  His family weren't raised in the church, but forty years later his daughter wanted to find out more by attending the Draper Temple Open House.  She asked him to go with her.  As the man entered the celestial room he had a "Paul" and "Alma" experience.  A voice said to him, "You need to return and receive your ordinances."  He turned to his wife and said, "Will you join me in receiving the ordinances of the temple?"  Forty+ years after leaving the church he returned and received his temple ordinances.

A felt a wonderful spirit.  We joined this session sitting on the back row of the endowment room.  (I dropped my sash behind the chair and couldn't reach it.)  I struggle with the constant feeling that there isn't a place in this church for me.  I'm an outsider.  As I stood at the veil I felt, "Are you going to be critical of Him, too?"  I realized how much I need to accept the Savior's gift with gratitude.  I need Him!

While wanting to commune in the celestial room it was as noisy as a cultural hall social.  People were so incredibly irreverent!  Although it has been like this in the past--it was worse than ever.  I talked to an male ordinance supervisor.  I believe I need to attend other temples hoping they're more reverent than Jordan River.  The temple should be a place in this world we are able to go and worship without noise and worldly interruption!
